AgInfoLink USA Announces APEIS Acquisition  

 Longmont, CO, September 6, 2005- AgInfoLink USA, a privately-held food traceability information solutions provider, announced today that it has acquired the business operations and assets of Animal Permanent Electronic Identification System, Inc. (APEIS) of Norfolk Nebraska, a leading provider of animal traceability solutions to cattle producers in the Central Plain and Mountain states.

 The APEIS product offerings and staff will be merged with existing AgInfoLink operations in order to better meet customer traceability needs according to William R. Pape, AgInfoLink USA Chairman and CEO.  “The APEIS acquisition brings new customer relationships which AgInfoLink strongly welcomes,” according to Pape, and “adds to the AgInfoLink staff the APEIS staff who are already traceability experts.” 

 According to Van Neidig, APEIS co-founder and President, “The merger with AgInfoLink is an opportunity to leverage the synergy of two leading animal traceability companies as the industry moves to fully implement animal identification under the National Animal Identification System (NAIS).  My wife Kathy and I began this journey in 1981, went on to co-found APEIS in 1991, and now look forward to joining AgInfoLink and taking our activities to the next step.”

 The acquisition, according to Mark Armentrout , AgInfoLink Chief Operating Officer, also gives AgInfoLink a chance to widen its product line.  “APEIS brings a collection of data collection solutions such as CattleTrax™, and other Trax products that integrate well with, and strengthen the existing AgInfoLink product suite, providing a broader range of potential solutions as the National Animal Identification System begins implementation.”
