The Mexican Sheep Breeders Association Selects AgInfoLink to Provide Traceability Solution
Longmont , CO- April 12, 2004- The Mexican Association of Sheep Breeders (AMCO) has selected AgInfoLink™ to provide a customized information management solution for their animal identification, data collection, data sharing, and traceability needs. This system will be used to facilitate the registration of pure bred animals, to keep accurate inventory and performance records, and most importantly to enable producers to make profit-enhancing management decisions.
According to Dr. Juan de Dios Arteaga, AMCO President, “We are committed to giving our members the industry’s best information tools. It is important that we have a reliable system for traceability that also allows our producers to add value to their businesses. I’ve used AgInfoLink’s products and can attest to their ease of use and to the tremendous value that is created from data collection, reporting and analysis.”
The first stage of program implementation is underway as nineteen AMCO technicians are being trained and equipped to use the AgInfoLink system. The technicians will work with the pure bred breeders in their regions to collect genetic data and registration information. The data collected at the farm will be electronically sent to the AMCO database, processed, and the corresponding certificates issued.
Ramiro Guzman, Country Manager AgInfoLink Mexico, “Working with AMCO, we’ve been able to utilize our identification, tracking, and reporting applications to create a system that meets the needs of the association while giving producers tools for improved management.” Guzman adds, “It’s been a great privilege to work closely with AMCO to create this program.”
